Meisner Winter Intensive
1/14/10 through 4/1/10
THE 2010 MEISNER WINTER INTENSIVE Sundays & Thursdays, 7-10 PM January 14 to April 1, 2009 Fee: $325
A 12-week program of acting training based on the work of Sanford Meisner* and Larry Silverberg.
Students are taken step-by-step through a unique improvisational exercise that trains them to be thoroughly and truthfully responsive in the moment, emotionally alive, and passionately engaged in action. Make no mistake: students are not simply told what's wrong or missing in their work, they are guided in doing the work. It is absolutely practicable: a technique designed to leave you out of your head on stage. Valuable training for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced professionals. Classes will be held two evenings per week. In addition, students are required to work with partners outside of class two or three times per week. NOTE: This course does NOT include work on scripted scenes.
*Sanford Meisner was arguably the most important acting teacher since Stanislavski, but since he wasn't much of a self-promoter, you may never have heard of "The Theatre's Best Kept Secret". He taught his unique technique to a multitude of actors over his 50 years at New York's famed Neighborhood Playhouse, including Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, James Caan, Gregory Peck, Bob Fosse, Peter Falk, Jon Voight, Jeff Goldblum, Grace Kelly, Tony Randall and Sydney Pollack.
